The “why” behind the board book

I'm a Good Mom: Positive Affirmations in Storybook Style is the first of its kind: a sturdy, colorful board book that combines high-contrast images for babies with encouraging positive affirmations for moms.

Positive affirmations are often prescribed by therapists when helping moms through postpartum depression and anxiety as a way to manage negative thoughts and build confidence.

“I’m a Good Mom: Positive Affirmations in Storybook Style” is designed to make positive affirmations more accessible by including them in something most moms are already doing: reading to their baby and showing them high-contrast images.

Since young babies are focused more on the vowels and consonants and rhythm of speech than the meaning of words, it's just as beneficial for them to hear their mom reciting her own positive affirmations as it is to hear a traditional children's story.

Especially when—surprise!—the positive affirmations rhyme.

My hope for this board book is that it will help new moms wire their brain for confidence and peace from the start of their parenting journey, and by doing so, create a firm foundation for weathering the many challenges that motherhood can bring.
